1.02 RELATED WORK specified elsewhere includes: Sidings, insulation vapor barrier, structural support framing, purlins or sleepers, decking or sheathing, vents, louvers, skylights, gutters, downspouts. (Delete or include in 1.01 as applicable.)

1.03 REFERENCE STANDARDS current edition of each applies. (Delete those not required.)

A. American Iron and Steel Institute - AISI Light Gauge Cold-Formed Steel Design Manual

B. Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association - SMACNA: "Architectural Sheet Metal Manual"

C. Metal Construction Association - MCA

1.04 SUBMITTALS

A. Shop Drawings must be in scale large enough to clearly show all layers. Include dimensions of fabricated work reference dimensions to the structure type, size and spacing of fasteners, material thickness, and finishes, plan layout with erection sequence and coordination required with other trades. Shop drawings must be reviewed and approved by the architect prior to commencement of work.

B. Submit with the drawings copies of performance data on the panels, anchor clips, fasteners, material samples of mock-upsrequired.

C. Prior to completion submit quality control data certifying that materials furnished for the project are the same as those tested.

1.05 GUARANTEES Prior to completion of the project submit:

A. Panel manufacturers' (__)-year warranty on finish durability. (Note warranty exclusions for corrosive conditions.)

B. Panel manufacturers' and Subcontractor's (__)-year guarantee against structural defects or corrosion.

C. No weathertightness warranty available for this panel.

Part 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS

A. SCR Roofing as Manufactured by Metecno-Morin, or alternates approved by architect prior to bid date.

B. Manufacturer shall have had at least ten years experience in architectural roofing, and the roof panel itself shall have been in use for at least ten years. Manufacturer shall demonstrate past experience with examples of projects of similar type and exposure.

C. The installer shall be authorized by the panel manufacturer, and the actual work shall be supervised by personnel trained in proper application of the product. The installer shall have capability for preparation of shop details and fabrication of all flashings not furnished by the panel manufacturer.

D. Alternate products must be submitted in writing to the architect at least ten days prior to bid date. Request shall include technical data on all characteristics of the proposed item and list all deviations from these specifications.

2.02 MATERIALS - PANELS AND SHEET

A. Panels shall be fabricated in full lengths from ridge to eave without end laps. Panels shall be 24 gauge thickness and 18” wide with concealed anchors that resist wind uplift yet permit expansion and contraction with temperature changes. Snap on Battens shall be 1” high. Galvalume 40 ksi finished steel per ASTM A792.

B. Flashing shall be same material type and finish as the roof panel but the temper may be reduced to facilitate forming. Minimum thickness shall be the same as the roof panel.

C. Color finish shall be Kynar 500® PVDF or Hylar 5000 70% minimum polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) acrylic resins (0.8 mil minimum dry thickness applied over a 0.2 mil minimum manufacturer’s recommendations). Color shall be Metecno-Morin color _____________ and shall carry a ____ year warranty.

D. Product Performance

1. Underwriters Wind Uplift Class 90

2.03 MATERIALS - ACCESSORY ITEMS

A. Anchor clips to be determined by wind uplift resistance. Fasteners in supports and screws installed in lips shall be fully recessed so that no sharp edges come into contact with the roof material. Clips shall be designed to allow for expansion and contraction of the roof relative to the structure throughout the temperature range specified in 3.02D.

B. Screws holding anchor clips to the structure shall be: Into wood: stainless steel (or plated steel)
Into steel: stainless steel, cadmium plated self-tapping screws into predrilled holes (or plated hardened steel self-drilling screws).

C. Exposed fasteners shall be aluminum or stainless steel. For weather tightness, screws shall have separate washers with hot bonded neoprene faces, and pop rivets shall be set in wet sealant. Exposed fasteners shall be a minimum #14 size screw or 3/8" diameter rivet. (Note: Aluminum may not be suitable for some steel products; consult the fastener supplier)

D. Precut foam profile closures shall be closed cell foam meeting specification. Field fabricated hip closures shall be closed cell foam block supported and protected from weathering by a metal channel matching the roof flashing.

E. Sealant used with the roofing shall be applied between surfaces during assembly with a minimum amount exposed on the completed installation.

1.Concealed sealant may be a non-curing, non-skinning butyl, polyisobutylene or polybutane tape of sufficient thickness to make full contact with both surfaces.
2.Exposed sealant shall be a curing type with excellent weather and sunlight resistance. Color shall be as selected by architect. Apply in accordance with the sealant manufacturers recommendations.

F. Underlayment, when used, shall be Ice and Water Shield And roofing felt.

2.04 FABRICATION

A. Minimum inside bend radius on flashing shall be 3T and all edges shall have an open hem for stiffness.

B. Fabrication tolerances shall be as required by the Metal Construction Association. (MCA)

Part 3 - EXECUTION

3.01 INSTALLATION

A. Storage and Handling - Protection shall be provided during fabrication, shipment, storage, and erection. During shipment finished surfaces shall be protected from abrasion by a Removable plastic film between areas of contact. Jobsite storage shall be in a clean dry area out of direct contact with the ground, under cover or sloped for drainage, protected from abuse by traffic and from contamination by corrosive or staining materials. Stored materials and unfinished work shall be secured against wind damage. Installed panels shall be protected from abuse by other trades. It shall be the responsibility of this contractor to provide walk boards in areas of heavy traffic and any other measures required to prevent damage by his own crews and notify the General Contractor of any necessity for protection from other trades.

B. Before Installation - The contractor shall verify that the structure is ready to receive his/her work. He/she shall check field dimensions and alignment of structural steel to assure that the roof panels and flashing will be straight and true. The architect shall be notified on unresolved conditions which may adversely affect the performance or appearance of the installed roof panels and work on that location will not proceed until approved by the architect.

C. All work shall be installed in accord with approved shop details under direct supervision of an experienced sheet metal craftsman. Attachments and joints shall allow for expansion and contraction from temperature changes without distortion or elongation of fastener holes. Flashing shall be installed in strict accord with the recommended practice in the MCA, AA, NRCA and SMACNA architectural sheet metal manuals: without fasteners in end laps and isolated from dissimilar materials.

D. Completed work shall be plumb and true, free of scrapes and dents. Panel ribs shall be on the module indicated in the contract drawings within the tolerance allowed by the actual construction dimensions. Excess sealant shall be removed and touch-up paint applied to any areas where paint scrapes occur. Any panels which are badly damaged and in the judgment of the architect cannot be repaired, shall be removed and replaced.

E. As much as possible, attachment screws shall be eliminated in favor of concealed cleats or clips.
